using wmv files in DVD-A does not preview or burn audio track from wmv file

I am using wmv 8 and 9 files as media in my DVD-A project. When I preview, I get no audio. I can open the wmv file in Vegas 4, it previews the audio fine there. When I burn the DVD, it also is missing the audio.

I've uninstalled dvd-a, sound forge xp, and vegas4, reinstalled all, still the same result. I'm running under windows xp, windows media 9 installed.

The workaround is to go into Vegas4 and save the wmv to mp3, and then choose the mp3 as the audio track, but that certainly is frustrating.

Anyone else run into this?

DVDA wants the audio and video tracks to be seperate files. If the audio is already muxed with the video, DVDA will simply ignore the audio stream.

I don't think that davda requires separate audio/video files.
It will recompress if the audio is not PCM aor AC3, but you can use an mpeg file with audio as input.

Best to open the thumbnail - and see the audio file name. Also look in the optimize to see the audio details.
