V 9.0 Render only sound and text

hovdata wrote on 9/28/2008, 12:40 PM
Have used Vegas for some time, no problems but now suddenly I can not render AVI or other formats. I get only the sound and text and the picture is just black. I have reinstalled V and tryed everything I can find out. Have been spending all day now and give up.
I use new Vista maschine and the video files I use are same as when Vegas worked fine. Looks I have to use Windows Moviemaker again . . Ughhh

Send an email to Sony support and try another format. WMV or MP4 for example and tell us if it's still black.

It sounds like you have your video track muted, or the title track soloed. Check the buttons in the track header that look like an exclamation point or a circle with a diagonal line. If any of these are selected, deselect them.

Thanks, but no muting problem. If I do some text this shows, as the audio do. I have tryed wmv and other formats. I use the same clips that worked fine some days ago. I have not installed any critical software. I have tryed several players for playback. Black, black

Well, tryed today to use video material in formats 3GP and wmv. Worked fine and rendered perfect.

Tryed over again my old AVI that worked fine 3 days ago. But as before no picture . . only sound.

Must be some support for AVI that is gone of some reason.
How to pic that up again? Thanks to leading me on.

Been messing around again, still same problem.
All formats work but Xvid MPEG-4 Have been reinstalling codec.
I made a whole project with that format just some days ago with no problem. Have no idea. MovieMaker works fine. I did sense a mess sunday to support, so far no respons.

There is a way to flush all your personal settings of Vegas. During loading of vegas, there's a key combo that flushes all preferences. This might help.

Key combo??? what is that? When Vegas starts it shows the splash quick as hell, I find no way and no info in helpfiles about this
Eugenia wrote on 9/29/2008, 1:57 PM
If you do it fast enough, you have time to flush the settings. I just don't remember the key combination to press, maybe Chienworks does.

OK, I try to find out,
I have worked constant 18h now trying solving this problem out.
Did reinstall several times, so setting should be by default or?.

Sometimes uninstallers don't delete user-specific data.

Holding down the Ctrl & Shift keys while starting Vegas resets everything back to the default install configuration. This doesn't alter 3rd party plugins or codecs though. Those would have to be uninstalled/reinstalled separately.
hovdata wrote on 9/29/2008, 9:46 PM
Did try to reset, but nothing happened. some settings I know I did was still there. No pic.
Did unistall Xvid package I had. Windown Movie maker started to work bad with hlaf screen, so I did reistall Windows Xvid back to funktion of WMK.
Still black, Third party ?? What coult that be.

If I remember right as in good time when Vegas worket it was wit h the free version. Will today uninstall my bought version and reistall the free one again, and se what happends...huuu.
Have a another mashine with XP but Vegas did not install in that one at all.

Hi again.

Today I tryed out a fresh installation in a new fresh mashine without support for Xvid. I used the Vegas 9.0 free version.

Over again black screen. Tryed out MovieMaker and had to install codec Xvid before that one worked.

Back to Vegas...and still black screen. It do not support Xvid, period.
Most od as I could use this format sept 9 2008.

Now I found out that I can first convert Zvid to Indeo video 5,10 . That works at least. Big and boring job.

So I did Google, finnally found a lot of people w same problem in Vegas. Here is a solution:

" Search for a FourCC changer (there's a program called 'cfourcc' that does it), and use it to change the FourCC codes of your XviD files to 'divx'. For some reason, Vegas will then load them in perfectly! "

Worked with me so far. Have to do this with all files...:-(
Thanks guyes
