V11 Related Questions

1. Where does Vegas save presets? I have many presets saved for various VFX and would like to copy them over to V11. I tried a text search under the Sony\Vegas Pro 11.- folder but don't find anything.

2. Where can one find a list of compatible GPUs? For me I see no choices for GPU under the GPU Acceleration option - so I guess my old GForce 9500GT is not compatible.

I'm not sure of the answer to your first question, but here's the list of compatible GPUs.

I guess yours isn't compatible.

Thanks for the quick replies. I guess the 9500 has 1.1 cuda - so no according to sony it's pre-2.0. Maybe they'll keep working on it....

Preset Manager utility... Hmmm, gotta check that out. I wish Sony had a proper installer with options for migration from previous versions including the option to uninstall previous versions.

EDIT: Well I installed preset manager, started it... stared at it... and decided I have no clue what I'm supposed to do. The help file was useless to me. I guess I was hoping for a button that says Copy Presets from Version[choose] to Version[choose]

Any help?

Just double click on FX Chains in the System Presets pane, drag whatever you want to the Preset Package pane, and click on Save As...

I’m talking about the preset manager here.

I should add once you copy any presets to the system pane, here is how you find them in Vegas 11. From the Plug-In Chooser select Filter Packages, and bingo, all your presets are there:

Thanks for trying Red Prince, but you seemed to have skipped a step - either that or I"m too thick headed. When I open Preset Manager there are two windows (Right and Left) on top called "Preset Package." In the top left window is an item called "Untitled."
The bottom two windows called "System Presets" is listed a folder called FX-Plug-Ins. When I open that folder they are all named "Not Installed 01, 02, etc.) and clicking on them reviels in the right bottom window a bunch of Ultimate S audio effects. Nothing in the FX plug ins looks like my Sony FX (i.e. Sony Border, etc)

How do I transfer presets from my Vegas V10 to V11? I see nothing that looks like the photo you posted... no plug in chooser. No clear way to choose where I'm transfering from and to. When I browse through the V10 installation I find no candidate files that this application lets me choose. I guess I need a step by step?

BTW - I've downloaded Preset Manager 2.0.

Menu / View / Plug-In Manager. Or just press ctl-alt-1.

Thanks again but, I now see you are referring to the Plug-in Manager within Vegas. I don't see how that solves my problem. I want to import the presets (not the plug-ins) from Vegas 10 to V11. The program recommended earlier in this thread was Preset Manager V2.0. Different program... stand alone. I'm guessing it's supposed to solve the problem but who knows how? LOL....

The Preset Manager manages presets that were saved as presets. Not presets for an individual plug-in, but presets for the full chain of plug-ins that you have explicitly saved (though the chain can consist of just one plug-in if you want to, but it has to be saved from the Filter Packages as seen above). Like the ones I talk in this video:

And you do not actually need the Preset Manager to post those over to Vegas 11 from Vegas 10 because Vegas 11 finds them on its own as seen in the plug-in manager. (I did not know that when I started writing in this thread, I realized it when I was researching my answers for it.)

Red Prince, wow - I never knew I could save a series of presets like that. I will use that trick in the future. I have a lot of presets that I simply saved using the preset save button (little disc icon)

It’s one of my favorite features of Sony Vegas.
