V12 and NBTPro 2 not playing nice

LV studio wrote on 11/23/2012, 11:13 PM
Done just about everything. 8bit project, GPU off and internal memory (tab in preferences) double the default. V12 running fine but NBTPro 2 crashes a lot. Many times just adding it to a track crashes V12. I've found that dragging to no track on the timeline seems a bit more stable to open it. But I have to go real slow. Seems like most crashes happen when going from NBTP2 to V12 or vice versa.

Try reducing the Dynamic RAM Preview instead of increasing it.

Please also send an e-mail to NewBlue Tech Support.

I should have mentioned. Dyn Ram Prview is "0" zero.

I am experiencing similar problems as you do LV and as much as V12 has been rock solid (GPU OFF), NBTP2 does crash on several occasions just by dragging it to the timeline or changing settings, but it does not crash during renders.

I did submit a ticket an got several suggestions but none solved my crashes. So I am still waiting for a reply or an update that would fix this crashing issue.

I had similar problems when NBTP1 was released but it eventually got fixed and became stable.

Hopefully they will come up with a fix.

I see a lot of issues too. Seems that If I add the titles first there are less crashes. I also see less crashes with version 1.

It does seems more stable if I use NBTP2 in a new V12 session with no other events on the timeline.

I wonder if increasing the internal memory as per this thread would help?

I'll change mine from 1024 to 2048 and will see what happens. I have 12GB of RAM...

Where do you change it at?
Bofus wrote on 11/26/2012, 7:53 PM
Go to the link above to see how to change the RAM value. Hold Shift key while selecting Preferences. Select "Internal" tab...

My NBPT2 runs great as long as I haven't played the Vegas timeline before opening the NB event. ie if I open and existing project with a NB event in it and open the NB event first it's fine. I can also play the Vegas timeline while the NB window is open with no problems. But if I close the NB window, play the Vegas timeline and then try to reopen the NB event it will crash and bring the send error box up. Reprod 100% of the time. V12 with the x64 memory set to both stock and 4096.

I've noticed that if I try to undo anything in NBPT2 in V12, it immediately crashes V12. Other than that it works ok, if very sluggishy. (Geez, "other than that", as if that wasn't bad enough...like saying " a serial killer, otherwise law-abiding")

Anybody know if there have been any updates to NBTP2 since its release or tutorials?

There should be an update available soon.

Energex you may be on to something. NewBlueFX support and I did some testing today.

1. When I opened a new project I could load as many Titlers as I wanted and they worked fine.
2. Then I added video . . . still worked fine.

1. New project, added several video tracks 1st, played it a little.
2. then added two titlers . . . worked fine.

All the crashes I had been getting up to date, too numerous to count.
Today, just one (1). And I tried to crash it. I opened about 20 old and new projects and added titler many times.

I don't understand why it's working today !?

Per NB, they are coming out with an update and says it does fix several bugs.
