The serial number for Sonicfire that was provided with the Suite does not activate it. It is in fact the serial number to activate Sonicfire as a plug-in to VMS14.
Magix do not appear to be aware of this.
To get the plug-in to work first you have to activate Sonicfire. I was advised by Magix that since it is a "third party program" I'd need to contact Sonicfire's makers to get a serial number from them... Not impressed by this: if a program is provided as an inducement to buy the Suite, it should surely come with the necessary serial number.
As it turns out, SmartSound's support (support@smartsound.com) is rather good, they explained the provided serial number's plug-in application, provided a working Sonicfire activation number, and so all was sorted within 24 hours.
Sonicfire is an interesting gadget. I haven't checked out the pricing structure for new sound files, but I can see its potential.
Now, if only VMS could edit .m2ts video files, it would be just what I need. But it doesn't. So it isn't.
Apparently that's the subject of some update without a date. 🙁
