V19: Artefacts ( stutter or ghosting) when speeding up a 4k event.

Hi all

I have a small project with DJI 4k mp4 files.
A few of them are sped up to roughly 1,5x. On some, the speeding (using the usual CTRL + shorten to the left) isn't smooth at all and produces either stuttering frames ( using optical flow) or ghosting ( using frame blend). here's an example:

What are you all using to speed up events? The Vegas 19 internal tool or something else?

For speeding up, I would disable resample mode (leaving out frames) instead of generating extra frames by blending or optical flow. Best to speed up exactly 2x instead of 1,5x.

Optical flow is nice when slowing down.

Just tried a DJI-4k30p clip. 4xspeedup, very smoothy. Your source info and project settings?

Thanks, the 2x exact number and disabling resample did indeed help. Thing is, sometimes I speed up clips to fit an exact time slot, which then mostly isn't a precise number.
But for this particular clip, it's great.

Before Vegas Pro introduced better slow motion (with the choice of optical flow) I used ProDad's ReSpeedr - https://www.prodad.com/Slowmotion-Timelapse/ReSpeedr-V1-29772,l-us.html. It also does speed up and has a choice of optical flow, blend and no extra processing. It's a many years old product now but might be worth your while giving the trial version a whirl to see how it works % speed ups like 1.5x.
