V4 - install glitch

Hi,

Just downloaded and installed my Vegas 4 upgrade. At the very end of the install when the dialog saying "removing backup files..." is on screen, I get the following error:

Application popup: MsiExec.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x779c840b" referenced memory at "0x779c840b". The memory could not be "read".

I am able to dismiss this message and the V4 install says it is completed successfully. V4 also seems to run just fine.

I've tried running the maintenance "repair" but it always bombs at the "removing backup files" part.

Not sure if it's a problem.

Running Win2k SP3, M-audio 2496, Nvidia, OS partition has 6 gb free, 512 mb RAM, AMD 1.2 cpu. System very stable.

Hi CB,

Sounds like a MS installer issue... you might try updating the installer.

I think I have the latest version: 2.0.2600.2

Not sure where to get the latest version. MSFT web site is a little obtuse on this?

It's never been a problem before this?

Maybe someone from SOFO will comment?
