V4: Vector Pathway in Pan/Crop

Grazie wrote on 2/14/2003, 3:47 AM
I accept there this maybe a "RTFM" option - but, is there a way to configure, adjust or add nodes to what appears to be a "vector-pathway" in Pan/Crop?

Hi Grazie,

I don't think you can work on the path itself, but it's easy enough to click in-between two KFs on the KF track, and hit the + key to add a KF... Clicking on any existing KF will highlight the KF on the path with *new & improved* comet-trails.

P.S. I'll hookup my external FW stuff and post my devices on the other thread shortly... I had a brain-crash (fell-asleep) yesterday, shortly after posting. (zzzzzzz)

Hi Marty - Good sleep? You deserve it! - Thanks for remembering. It's more the drivers for the imaging device/s - like for me the Canon camera. I suppose that is what you mean. Silly me. - But, as you say, this is for the "other" thread. I'm going to get together my "driver" list and you can crawl over them there. Hey that's an idea! Perhaps SoFo should have a "I'll show you mine If . . . " image device driver comparison chart? Stupid idea? I do have another question to ask on this - but I'll put it there - yes?

ANYWAYS - Vector paths - yes - Now then, when I observe the "curly" path in P/C - I call it a vector pathway - Are you saying that when I make another KF Change, there will be a change in direction of the vector pathway? If it is "smooooothed" then, preseumably, I would see a "radical" change in direction in the "representation" of the vector pathway - yes? - So, the graphical vector pathway is in fact ONLY a representation of the path of the clip - it is not directly inter-active - yes? Maybe a wish-list thing for V4d :) .

I should have asked this in the first place - hmmm....

Back to BS thread now. I fancied to play around with V4 for a bit - I was starting to loose interest in what I was doing there for a bit!

Marty? Have you seen the latest 2 Video for view over on Chienworks site- Absolutely wonderful - rivetting and the humanity just grabs at you from the screen - BIG THANKS to the CHienworks for allowing us to be able to share this medium. -However the art and inspiration in the last 2 videos is superb - SoFO should also feel good - having been the company that has brought this level of technology to the less well-heeled to be able to afford one of the ranges of VF>VV3>>V4 NLEs.

Sorry - went off on one there for a bit,

Grazie

Hi G,

The path is somewhat interactive...

Here's the start of a little tut:

(when the page re-directs, click on "Pan-Crop Path"...)

Grazie,

Did you go and upgrade from VF2 to V4? Now I'm jealous. I still can't justify the upgrade (that means I still can't hide the expense from my wife!).

It's killing me not having keyframeable events, extra video and audio tracts, and no built-in MPEG encoder. :(

I suppose I could skip lunch for a couple months and use that money for V4+DVD.

BTW, did you get the +DVD package?

Grazie

Hi Grazie, it's Grob from that other thread. Amen, it is going on a bit isn't it. FYI, been all over Dell, Belkin, and Maxtor support forums. The bit about sequencing your camera on boot up is recognised, but not explained. I'm tired of it all. Been looking at some threads that suggest the integral 1394 may be proprietary . . . arghhh. Enough. Will watch your investigation of drivers, but am worn out for a bit watching the same 1GB test clip.

So you're mucking about in V4?? I bought the upgrade 'cause I know I'm going there eventually, but got it boxed so won't see it til mid-march. Also bought it just because . . . of this forum and this SF company. Did you see the Cow post on SF? Great news. Grob

Hiyah matey! "The bit about sequencing your camera on boot up is recognised, but not explained. " THIS IS VERY GOOD NEWS INDEED! I mean it - I really do. Can you give me a link to at least one of the places you've seen it? Please!

It would appear the Plug 'n Play option for a cammy is dependant on something I/we don't understand - YET! WE WILL! - Prior Cammy Conection to Boot-up has proved that my system holds together - that's worth at lot of knowledge nuggets. It does show that the firewires, product and Cammy work as one - yes? Even for my WinME

Anyways - Yes it is very good news on the SoFO front!
