V4 VidCap Doesn't Limit Clip Size

I am trying to keep VidCap from making files larger than about 4GB. Under Options-Preferences I have set Maximum Size Per DV Clip to 4,000 which ought to result in files small enough to archive onto DVD. Unfortunately, VidCap seems to be ignoring this setting. The box is checked, but VidCap consistently creates much greater than 4,000 MB (like 4300, 4700, etc).

I know most people are trying to avoid having their captures split into multiple files, but this would save a lot of time later when I archive the file. I wouldn't have use GSplit to cut the files up and then recombine them later if needed (both operations can take a LOT of time!)

Anybody else run into this and know of a fix? I did a search on it but only found info on how to turn this off, rather than making it work. Thanks!
