V4 - zoom out bug still exists

This bug I think has been with us since Vegas 2, and have just noticed it rear it's head again in Vegas 4.

Weird thing is, doesn't always happen and can't seem to work out why and when it sometimes does. It's when you zoom all the way and then can't zoom back in again using either arrow keys on scroll wheel. The only way to zoom in again is to grab the scroll/zoom bar and drag it in.

I'm sure I've seen other people post in the past, reproing this bug.

I can repro this too. I have no idea what it is, but it drives me crazy as well. What's weird is that I can get it to zoom in with the mouse wheel if I scroll it really quickly a couple of times - almost like it has to "break" some invisible lock when zoomed out to zoom in.

I wish someone could fix this.

I got this too...in addition sometimes the mouse wheel zoom stops working and the stop working setting is saved with the file!

We are unable to repro this behavior in-house. Let's try to narrow it down: what kind of wheel-mouse is causing this problem (MS, Logitech, etc)? Does the wheel work anywhere else in Vegas (Ctrl+Shift+wheel stepping, Ctrl+wheel or Shift+wheel scrolling, fader movement, pan/crop or track motion zooming, surround panner, etc.). What, if anything, will make it start working again?

Thanks!

Logitech optical wheel mouse
this was a vegas 3 problem ( the wheel mouse ). I am not sure if I have access to any of the troubled files anymore. I didnt use the wheel for anything but zooming so Im not sure if the other stuff croaked too. Sometimes it would happen on a file but next time I opened vegas it would be fine, but certain files would just kill the wheel for good, and save it that way. If i opened another file that file would work fine usually

Happens in both studios I use - one using Microsoft Optical mouse, the other a Logitech Wireless Optical mouse. Hadn't seen it on V4 until today, that was using the Microsoft mouse.

Happened twice in the session today, but then refused to repro again in the same session!

I use the Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical for USB. It happens in Acid as well.

I have no idea if this is a solid repro for anyone else but here's how I exhibited the problem in my last session:
If I click on the unused area of the mixer window, it disables the focus from the track view and I can't scroll in or out. If I then click on the scroll bar or in the track view, it re-enables focus but if I do this a few times (or when in record mode) it will inevitably happen where the zoom out "sticks"

I hope someone else can repro this.

it happens for me also in all versions of Vegas - very occasionally when you zoom all the way out, you can't zoom back in. You have to close and re-open the program to solve the problem.

Incidentally, I'm using a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical USB on an AMD Athlon 2400+ and Windows XP.

I had the problem also on my 1700+ running Windows 98, with the same mouse.

It happen to me too.
We have Vegas installed on 40 studios and it happens from to time.
There is one more thing:Those little triangles on the event edges also disapear.
The only way to bring them back is to restart computer.

I have the same problem too. But I can move in the timeline with shift+wheel.

I have had seen the zoom-stick problem in Vegas 3 and 4 (but it's not a show stopper, since you can always zoom back in using the edges of the slide bar). Same here, it's occasional and hard to reproduce. Can't reproduce it by clicking on the mixer window and back on the track view. It definitely has nothing to do with record mode. Using MS Optical Mouse.

AND in Vegas 4 I have another problem with the mouse wheel: sometimes I can't move some of the sliders on the left of the track view (track volume, pan etc). This is also hard to reproduce, but for some reason sometimes a slider stops responding to the wheel. I can still click and drag it, but no wheel response. Very annoying. Anybody else seeing this?
