You can do this in Vegas, too. In the track header, you'll see a small square, click this to route the audio to different outputs. You'll also likely want to insert a bus so you've got control over the levels of that bus. You could set up Vegas to output to 8 mono channels or 4 stereo channels with the 1010, plus you can simultaneously output to the SPDIF output too. If you have the Vegas 5 book, look at page 175.
