V5/Delta 1010 set-up

Randy Brown wrote on 1/18/2005, 2:52 PM
Hey all,
FWIW I spent 15 minutes on a search but couldn't find anything relevant.
Okay... I have the latest drivers (5.1.48) and Vegas 5 plays my Event BAS 2020s very loud (with -12db registering on master volume of V5 and the Events trim turned down) so I go to turn down in the Delta Control Panel. Whether I turn down the master volume or wave outs 1/2 or 3/4 etc I don't get a response. I see the levels go up and down but hear no difference. I tried the ASIO and windows classic but no luck. Any thoughts?
TIA,
Randy

Check on how you have your Delta Control Panel set up. You might have it set up to ignore it's own settings, controlled only by Vegas.
Also check to be sure you have "no sounds" selected in the control panel/Sounds controls, as it might be robbing you of control.
Congrats! You've got a really nice sound card there!

Hey thanks Spot,
Check on how you have your Delta Control Panel set up. You might have it set up to ignore it's own settings, controlled only by Vegas.

I see a checkbox for "Disable audio app use of monitor mixer and patchbay router." but neither way makes a difference.

Also check to be sure you have "no sounds" selected in the control panel/Sounds controls, as it might be robbing you of control.

No sounds is selected.

Congrats! You've got a really nice sound card there!

I've had it for several years and I've used it in Vegas but it didn't work after a recent move. I later found out it was only the power supply but for the life of me can't figure out why the master volume won't work.
I also just now discovered it must not be a Vegas thing because i get the same results in Sonar 2.
Does that narrow it down for you any my friend?
Thanks again Spot,
Randy

g_Randy,

I hope you are not plugging the Event 20/20BAS right into the back of the Delta 1010 rackmount. You will never get this under control this way. My 1010 outs go to my hardware mixer and from the mixer - onto my Events 20/20BAS.

You have no volume knob the way you doing it and if the Delta is running at line level (which I think it is) you could be out some expensive speakers here shortly. Be very careful, my friend!

Cheers,

VP

Thanks for the reply VP,
Yes they are plugged directly into the outbox but I gotta tell you that I've been able to control them from the Delta control panel for years in Vegas and Sonar like this until replacing the power adaptor (I realize the adaptor wouldn't have anything to do with it but...hmmm).
Thanks again VP,
Randy

Yeah, I don't use a hardware mixer either. I did just recently add the Mackie BigKnob to my setup, and like that. It sorta acts like a mixer.
Cables all OK?
Internal Sound card off?
Sample rate set to freewheel?
Surround elements turned off?
Latest drivers for the 10/10?
No presets for the 1010?

i'm wondering if the powersupply might have damaged a logic control or something...

Hey Spot thanks for getting back to me,
Cables all OK?
I tried a replacement on one(balanced TRS to XLR ) but no difference
Internal Sound card off?
I have a Creative sound blaster (in a PCI slot) should I uninstall or just disable?
Surround elements turned off?
If you mean in V5 pref/audio device/default rear playback device etc. then I see no off option
Latest drivers for the 10/10?
yes
No presets for the 1010?
In the Delta control panel I see no presets anywhere (I'm thinking a drop-down?)
BTW, I have e-mailed M audio support but as I recall, they be slower than slow!

Thanks again Spot,
Randy

The drivers for the 1010 have a surround mode tab. Check that for what it's set to.
Also, I'd disable that blaster, yes. Were it me, I'd just pull that sucker out to avoid resources being used.

Thanks Spot,
The only tabs I see in the control panel are Monitor Mixer, Patch bay/Router, Hardware settings, S/PDIF, Bass management, and About. Am I missing something?
I will disable the sound blaster for now ( I hate to pull the card out as it has a JBL 3-way TV speaker system hooked up to it that I use to A/B the mix).
Thanks again Spot,
Randy

Check your Patchbay/router tab. On H/W Out 1/2 (assuming speakers are cabled to this.) Try selecting Monitor Mixer, not Wave\Out.

Thanks L25, I did have it set up this way ( except out H/W out 3/4 because the H/W out 2 seems to be defective as it plays at a lower level than 1).
M audio support had me uninstall and delete every file having to do with Delta and then re-install. They said if that doesn't work they feel it is sharing an IRQ so I just sent them a screen capture of system info/hardware resources/IRQs to show them that it isn't. Still waiting to hear back.
Thanks again,
Randy
