I'm editing a double-cast performance - same production - two different casts. Finished cast #1's video - about to assemble rendered files onto the V5 for the second cast.
I created my opening titles in Studio 7 for cast 1. For cast 2, I simply reopened that title "project" and edited one element, the project date, to reflect the day upon which cast #2's performance took place.
Using the Media Pool, I can import the original Cast-1 opening title avi, but not the second avi title for cast two - I get a message that V5 can't open this "EDL" file due to it's possibly being corrupt or of an unknown format - clicking the details button reveals this message - "Unable to parse line #16 "Ou""
Why does V5 refer to this file as an EDL? It's an avi, and the extension ".avi" appears in the filename.
Additionally, I can right click on the file and WMD opens and plays it without a problem. Except for a date change in the content of the text, this file is identical to the first.
I went back into S7 and re-rendered that project with a different name, same results. I also fired up V4 which can open all three avi's (cast 1 opening titles, cast 2 opening titles, and cast 2a opening titles) with no problem. I used V4 to re-render one of the offending avi's (probably didn't change it, hmm, I'll go back and throw in a fade or something and render it yet again).
Anyhow, what would you imagine could cause V5 to cough on this little avi file when V4 has no problem with it?
The piece closes with a 5-minute credit roll created in S7, and no problems there, either.
Ok, I went back to V4, imported the problem avi to the v4 timeline, added a fade, rerendered, still no go in V5.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
