V6 Issues

I know everyone knows of the issues with V6 and I'm not posting this to blast Sony or V6.

Capturing Issue - I captured a rather long file (about 1:15) last night, once captured, saved it and V6 locked up at 5%. However, the footage was stored on the harddrive perfectly. What caused this?

Rendering issue - I put together a photo montage...about four minutes and mulitple events, pan/crops and motion. I tried to render this project several times and it locked up at the same point each time. The only possible thing I could think of that might cause this was a corrupt file (picture). I have not tried to recature that picture yet, curious if any have had a similar problem.

Is there a way to pull a V6 .veg file to V4?

Also, how can i shut down the preview window while rendering? I have unchecked that in the option portion, but each time I restart V6 it goes back to the default settings.

I have not yet put V6 through the works, due to several projects underway. With the exception of the photo montage issue, I am pleased with program., though.

Thanks for your help.

Chris

Try pre-rendering the project first.

No.

You can't open the veg, but what you can do is:
1. In Vegas 6-File>Save As>Text EDL
2. In Vegas 4 File>Open>EDL/Text

Your titles will appear as slugs, and it's a basic EDL import, but it's better than not having the project if for some reason you need to go backwards.

After un-checking this option do you apply changes by clicking on the OK button at the bottom of the dialog window?
The reason I ask is because I remember people having the same problem with the Preferences dialog and it was because their monitor resolution was set at 800X600. At that resolution the buttons are not visible because the dialog is extending below the task bar. They were closing the window using the X button at the top right corner and any changes were not kept.
Is this the case?

Spot, I'd like to tell you how much help you have been to me with the Vegas 4 Class on Demand you did. A big thank you.....I'm waiting on the next one.

r58, I will check to make sure I clicked the proper button.

Thanks to all for the help.

V6 hangs on me when rendering to MPEG2 NTSC. Currently I cannot use V6 on my Sony Computer until an update is release. V5 continues to render great. DVD3 works great.

To all for some help, please.

I'm still having issues with Vegas 6.

At times the editing portion works fine, but when I try to render.....forget it.

Example: I tried to render (in mpg2) a 1:25 video earlier, V6 told finally advised a 6 hour plus rendering time. So I stopped that , pulled the .avi into V4 and it took 1:30 to render to mpg2, all the settings were the same. I don't understand it.

Another example, I've been trying for days to finish the photo montage I mentioned above. Still V6 is locking up on me.

I'm not the most technical guy in the world, maybe I'm missing something, could someone please advise me.....my cpu specs are in my file.

Thanks

Chris

This is known to happen if the Media Manager is disabled. Sony has stated that it will be fixed in the next update.
