v6 Trouble & Irritations

Hi all,

Last night I did my first V6-project. Here are 3 things that made me very mad...

1. Audio / Play head scrubbing. - Every time I have the cursor placed on the right frame, and I want to select from there to another point in time, I cannot do that anymore!!! Because then I'm doing that audio play head scrubbing thing. So, I then have to select again, trying to select as close as possible to the scrub-cursor, to select the right part. .That irritates me like .......... This playhead scrub should be helpful (I think) when you're looking for something, for me maybe in trimmer window, but at least make it toggable, so i can decide myself wether I'm selecting or listening..

2. Print Video to DV Tape. - This didn't work. Last dialogue box was greyed out. So I couldn't click 'finish'.
This meant I had to render everything and load into Vegas 4 - which thank God I still have running (also V6 crashed on me once, I got scared, V4 never ever did) and print to tape from there.

3. Can anybody tell me this? While rendering I had time enough to read the shortcutlist that came in the box. Well I'm wondering, if I'm not looking good enough, but why isn't there a shortcut for 'select events to end'. I mean, I use it all the time!

And.. tonightI'm gonna shut off that database thing. That isn't useful when not connected to the internet, right?

thanks
Mark

1) You have to click above the "audio scrubber"... works every time for me... I think maybe because it is there perhaps it is acting like a little "target" and you gravitate towards it a little more than you should.

2) I've done a PTT from the timeline... yet to do a PTT from Vidcap (is that what is causing you trouble)?

3) not sure.

4) The "database" thing has nothing whatsoever to do with the internet.. it is related to the new Media Manager capability.

1.
I know you should click above it.. but.. how do I explain.. I want to click right next to/under an event to be able to select a certain period of time at the time line.
To be able to click and drag anywhere in the timeline window was what I liked so much..
I know Pinnacle you have to click and drag at the bottom of the screen all the time, even if you have 1 track and the whole window is empty.. i was so glad that w/ Vegas you could use the whole screen to select / click&drag... So now I have to go ABOVE all tracks to select , like you have to go to the bottom of the screen with Pinnacle?

I say make it toggable, please..

2. I tried printing from Timeline, not via Vidcap.

3. Anyone?

4. ok thanks

You can turn off the "Allow edit cursor to be dragged". It's the sixth option counting from the bottom in the Preferences dialog under the General tab.
When this option is turned off, cursor dragging will define a time selection instead of video scrubbing.

Really?? I saw that, but I thought it would do the opposite.. : actually preventing the dragging of the cursor, also for selecting time...

I'll try that tonight!!! THANKS!!
