This is a general question for my own edification:
I have what I think is a fairly simple project: About 17 minutes of video with a small text overlay. Occasionally using a velocity envelope to slow-mo a section.
Also about 1-2 minutes of some scrolling text, using track motion to position to one side screen, with a jpg occupying the other side of the screen (also using 2D track motion.)
An uncomplicated music track with an audio envelope.
Finally, 3 or 4 two-second duration cookie-cutter overlays that appear at various places over the video track.
This baby takes 8-10 hours to render. (!)
Is it because of the track motion? Something else, mabye? The render times seem way out of proportion to many other similar projects that I've done.
