I have updated my V5 vs. V6 render test page with V6d render times. You can see the page here. You can see the V6c original thread here.
Not much difference between V6c and V6d, except a large inconsistency in repeatable timings with Dynamic RAM set at 16MB and 64MB. The times varied from 48 minutes to 64 minutes, I could not get consistent times with those settings. The Dynamic RAM > 0 and < 128 render slowdown is still there, and a little worse for MPEG2 and Cineform Intermediate.
The interesting part is that I added a test to output WMV to see if I could duplicate a reported problem with only one CPU being used when the Dynamic RAM setting = 0. I found that WMV did not exhibit any slowdown with Dynamic RAM >0 and < 128. My system also used both CPUs in all wmv settings, with render time with Dynamic RAM > 0 slightly better than Dynamic RAM = 0.
So, I changed my page regarding the Dynamic Ram >0 and < 128 to state:
from
-This problem is not related to MainConcept MPEG-2 or Cineform AVI Intermediary
to
-This problem may be related to MainConcept MPEG-2 and Cineform AVI Intermediary, as WMV is not affected
