V7-Pixelan Issues...

kentwolf wrote on 9/14/2006, 10:29 PM
If you have an event on the timeline and you add any video FX plus any Pixelan Spicemaster and/or Creative Ease effect...

If you click on the Event FX icon on the event on the timeline, the Pixelan dialog "hogs" the FX dialog and you cannot access any other FX settings for that event other then the Pixelan settings for that event. Normally you can click the Pixelan green check, then you can access the FX chainer. No so in Vegas 7. The FX chainer never appears..assuming you have a Pixelan FX applied.

I checked and Vegas 6 does not behave like this.

Has anyone else seen this? Workarounds?

Thanks!

Edit: I submitted this to Pixelan tech support. I'll post whatever I am told.

Hi Kentwolf,
I had this problem, in the Pixelan effect on the right you have the Pref pannel see if ' Hide Video Event FX ' is unchecked.
You must do this for each Pixelan effects.
Maybe this solves your problem.

Vincent:

I do believe you got it!!! (Incredible).

I already rolled back my disk partition to Vegas 6. Guess I'll do it (V7) later tonight.

I believe the actual issue is the flag for "Auto close Video Event FX Window." By setting this to true in Vegas 6, it perfectly mimicked what happened in 7.

What a pain to have to go through and set these all.

Thank you very much for your help!!!!

FYI:

Pixelan tech support e-mailed me back and essentially said that they know it's an issue and are working on a fix.

They suggested the exact same window flag setting (temporary) fix as suggested by someone else here.

Pixelan posted a fix for the Hide Window issue:

Message was as follows:

"Dear Vegas/Pixelan users,

We're excited to see Sony's Vegas 7 and Vegas Movie Studio 7 releases.
Some of you have noticed a few nuisance problems with our SpiceMASTER
and/or CreativEase plug-ins in those new versions of Vegas, mostly
regarding window behavior. We have issued a minor update to both
plug-ins that fixes such problems. The update is otherwise functionally
identical to what you already have.

If you do NOT have Vegas 7 (or Vegas Movie Studio 7) yet, there is NO
need to do any of the below steps. Instead, just file this email
somewhere handy for future use when you do upgrade to Vegas 7 someday.

Below are the simple steps to take if you are a Vegas 7 user:

IF you are currently a SpiceMASTER 2.5 (PRO or TFX) user...
1. Please visit http://www.pixelan.com/smxx/new.htm to freshly
re-download SM2.5 for Sony Vegas.
NOTE: There is no need to uninstall your existing SpiceMASTER 2.5.
2. Double-click the downloaded file on your hard drive. When asked,
enter the same name/serial # combo we provided to you by email when you
purchased SpiceMASTER 2.5.
3. Re-start Vegas 7 if it was already open. You're done!

IF you are currently a CreativEase video effects user...
1. Please visit http://www.pixelan.com/ced/new.htm to freshly
re-download CreativEase for Sony Vegas.
NOTE: There is no need to uninstall your existing CreativEase.
2. Double-click the downloaded file on your hard drive. When asked,
enter the same name/serial # combo we provided to you by email when you
purchased CreativEase.
3. Re-start Vegas 7 if it was already open. You're done!

IF you have our ULTRA Bundle, be sure to do both sets of steps above.

If you no longer have your name/serial # info, reply to this email and
we can re-send it to you, although that process may take up to 24 hours
before you'll hear back from us.

If you notice other issues when using our products in Vegas 7, we'd love
to hear about it via our tech support form at
http://www.pixelan.com/help/techsupport.htm and we will respond
promptly. Thank you again for your patience, and enjoy your new software!

Sincerely,

Michael Feerer
