V8 accepts smaller number of scripts than V7

Anyone else experienced this? VP8 having problems with a large number of scripts in the Script Menu folder, even though it was ok for V7?

I had around 260 scripts in my Script Menu folder. Vegas 7 was happy with this arrangement. However, Vegas 8 seems to have a problem with this (large) number of scripts. The most obvious problem is that it stops detecting scripts beyond a certain number. This for example "hid" my copy of Excalibur. Another problem, of which I am not so certain because it is intermitent, is of possible instability under this condition, for example affecting Vegas's Help system freezing up. After I removed some of the scripts (to bring down the total number), all the ones present are listed and the instability has not so far occurred. Now i have 81 scripts present, though I have not experimented to see how far this number can be increased before the problem happens. I wonder if it is a memory full/overflow issue of some sort.

This issue was later reported by John Meyer, who analyzed it in more methodical fashion:

Yeah, but I've posted about this -- and written tech support about it -- for many years. For instance, here's something from four years ago:

Script icons disappear

That was about the script icons on the toolbar, which is a related problem.

Then this one from earlier this year:

No New Script folders showing?
