V8 and AVCHD renders to ISO

Can anyone tell me is the AVC output uing the BD optionsmusxing the AC3, WITHIN the file?
Or is it an MP4 file with a seperate AC3 file?

Im having a nightmare of a time getting AVCHD with 5.1 rendering at all...
V8 jsut locked up my system and almost took out an MBR from my "render to" scratch drive, and to say im unimpressed, would be an understatement.

a 7 minute 1080i rendered down to 25p SD MPG 2pass VBR took 20 minutes.. id expect that with the colouring and compressing im doing..

But the AVCHD render took over an hour (with al cores cranking 100%) and froze up the system when it hit 70%

Anyone else have issues rendering to AVCHD?

looking at teh presets, it doesnt seem V8 or DB supports 720p... which is a bummer if your mesing with resized frames...

I dunno.. i just made an AVCHD disc image ISO, from a 1080i sourcd material scaled down to 720p (as i reframed afew shots)
As SD, its looks the shit.. friggin awesome.. as per usual and to be expected... now though, when im wanting to deliver as HD, the bloody thing wotn work on my PS3 (latest firmware installed)

Any thoughts?
I noticed its render times were significany faster when i didnt have to scale or filter, and even though it adds one generation, at least it didnt shit itself this time...
BUT, im still left with a dillema of delivering AVCHD to 720p with 5.1 surround sound...

thoughts? anyone ven try this? SOny techs? care to enlighten us as to waht we can and cant do with custom render presets using AVCHD?

Mine was set to 720p, using cutomse presets made within the SOny AVC renderer. The DD encodes were presets made within the AC3 encoder.
Rendering each on their own is fine, rendering TOGETHER (ie burning a BD disc) pukes itself... badly... so bad hat i have to hard reset my machine and pray that Vegas didnt fry my MBR of the wrte to scratcth disc..

thoughts? opinions? expereinces?
Im specifically tlking about 720p

I know HDV works, i also know that smartrender can get flaky and nuke teh PS3, whereby you physically have to unplug it from the wall to reset...

Using aPS3 to test...

cant thin of anhting else to add to this..

Same results here, trying something different, let you know how it works out.

I can make SD from other software to create a 720x480i/p avc/h264 video.
The other software doesn't work well either if I start off with HDV and downconvert to SD avc/h264.

If I first convert the HDV to SD and use the SD as the source then the SD avc/h264 video is good.

Playback on the PS3:
When I create a mixed resolution avchd disk using SD (720) & HD(1440) separate videos, when playing back the avchd disk on the PS3 my HDTV changes to the resolution of the source video(s). This is while playing the same avchd disk. So when the 480 video ends and the 1080 starts my PS3 switches from 480p to 1080i. The lowest resolution on my PS3 connected hdmi is 480p and the highest 1080i. So the SD videos (interlaced) playback at 480p and the HDV avc/h264 videos playback at 1080i.
Seems I cannot disable 480p resolution on the PS3 to force uprezzing. I can disable 720p.

Maybe this 720p omission from avchd disks is a technical reason. Like it's compliant for avchd disk specs but may not playback on all devices.
