V8 and High Def

I recorded with a Sony high def camera. The files are .m2ts extension. I have no problem importing clips with this extension into V8. The video shows up in the time line and i can see the video in the preview pane with no ptoblem but the video will not play. When i hit the play button in the preview pane the play button greys out and nothing happens. If i click in a different part of the video, that frame will show up on the preview screen but the same results apply. Anyone have this problem or see this problem before? Could RAM be an issue being it is High Def video? Could the stars not be lining up correctly in the sky? Could gravity be an issue? :) Any input is of course appreciated. Thank you!
Tim.

Hmmmm. You don't seem to be getting much help here.

Maybe you could help us out by telling us about your high def camera and some details about the computer you are using.

What you are seeing is not the norm. I have an old 1.9 GHz Pentium 4 and a very new Sony CX7 which is an AVCHD HD camera and I've been editing the HD footage with V8 quite successfully.

I have a P4 3.0Ghz CPU with 512MB RAM. It is my brothers camera so i don't know the model number but i can get it. I know it is one of the 1st generation HD cams. i will get more info on the cam tomorrow. Is there anything else you'd need to know?

The 512MB seems a little light but I would think would be just barely good enough. I run 1 GB and Vegas uses it all. Also - you should tell us what version of V8 you have installed (8.0, 8.0a or 8.0b and what you used to capture the .m2ts files.
