V8 hangs after every render

When I do a render (to avi) in Vegas8, the render reaches 100% and then hangs, while still runnings its "Elapsed time" counter, until I hit CTRL/ALT/DELETE and kill Vegas.

I can stop the timer by clicking the CANCEL button, but then Vegas simply hangs.

I've confirmed that the avi file has indeed been rendered successfully, for what that's worth.

This happens on every render.

I liked it better the old V7 way, where Vegas went back into its Editing mode after rendering a project. Ctrl/Alt/Delete-Kill-Restart-Vegas seems like a bad workflow.

The work flow is the same, the problem described isn't related to an internal VP8 process. Is your V8 configured the same as your V7? Also, could it be a render setting? Is this only with AVI?

My "Preferences" are the same as in V7.
I've only tried rendering avi's, so far.

I'm in the middle of trying the old uninstall-reinstall approach, but something's wrong with Sony's online registration server, so I can't activate the reinstalled program. (I contacted Sony's "live chat" support, who advise that yes, something is wrong with Sony's servers, and please try again some other time.) So for now, I'm just stuck...

Pleased to report a Happy Ending...

Sony's Registration Server came back online; uninstall/reinstall of VegasPro8 seems to have solved the hang-after-render problem.
