V8 - HDV Capture Problems

Well not quite ready ta uninstall Vegas 7 yet. For reasons beyond my comprehension, when I go to start the capture program the little pop up comes up to select DV or HDV, if I choose DV the capture the capture program comes up. If I choose HDV however, little timer on the pointer comes up, looks like somethings gonna happen, and then ... nothing. It did work the first time, set it to capture an entire tape, left the room, came back and it was crashed. Mostly my bad I'm thinkin, forgot to turn off the screen saver, arg. So fished around to see if somehow the capture screen got docked, no where to be found.

Anyway, got Vegas 7 capturing it now but would love if anyone has any any idea how to get it working in V8 again.

i had this problem too. We expect the capture window to pop up centre screen; however, i finally found it as a tab window down in the docking area (along with transitions, etc). If that doesn't work, start V8 with a clean slate (ctrl&shift) and the capture window will be on screen top left when you click on the capture icon.

That brought it back, thanks.

Onto the next little irritation: Why is the video in the capture window jerky as all get out when it never used to be? Never did that before and still doesnt in V7 but for some reason when I try capturing with 8 its jumpy jerky and unwatchable, both video and audio.

P.S. I should add that this does not appear to effect the captured video itself, but it makes it impossible to watch when capturing which usually makes it easier to note the good shots when I go in to edit.

The plot thickins, now I'm getting:

Microsoft .NET Framework

Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your
application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error
and attempt to continue.
'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.

I have three gigs, no clue whats going on. And it doesnt let me click Continue.

For me, HDV capture in V8 doesn't work at all. The correct, internal capture app - seems to recognize the cam (Sony HC1) for a moment, then it says no device connected. Windows sees it fine, and Vegas 7 captures fine.

I'm using the trial version (don't want to buy until I've tried it and it works).... HDV capture should work with the trial, right?
