Though it is true it is no longer SUPPORTED, it is still quite possible that it RUNS fine. Case in point, I have Boris Red 4.x on my Win2k machine. They too specifically said it was not supported under the old OS, but also told me it should run OK (and it does). The only caveat is that any bugs I report using the Win2k platform would not be corrected if it was deemed to be an OS issue.

I am still interested in hearing if anyone has V8 running on Win2k (I was the original poster of the topic a couple of weeks ago).

unless .NET 3.0 is available for Win2K, then the install will probably fail...

From the Mcrosoft Framework 3.0 page:

.NET Framework 3.0 can be installed on any of the following systems:

* Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Service Pack 1 (SP1)
* Windows XP SP2
* Windows Vista *

*Windows Vista comes with .NET Framework 3.0. There is no separate installation package required. The standalone .NET Framework 3.0 packages are not supported on Vista.

Just for kicks, I tried installing .NET 3.0 on Win2K SP3. It did not install but DID say it needed SP4. So... .NET 3.0 may very well install on Win2K SP4. I did not install SP4.

For everyone asking if it works because that's what YOU use, the simple solution is to TRY IT and then let everyone else know. Just make an image of your drive, test it, and if it doesn't work restore from the image.

I have Win2k with .NET 3.0, so it definitely is available for that OS.
