V8 & Interactive Training

Seeing as how we seem to be dissecting each feature in it's own thread now I thought this one worth serious mention.
From what I've seen over the years this is what has been seriously missing with Vegas, I'm still amazed at the number of users that don't know what's under the hood of Vegas. Partially Vegas itself is to blame:

1) It's cheap
2) It looks simple.

Open up FCP, PPro or Avid and straight away it says to you "Hm, better do some reading before I start clicking buttons" and secondly you've oulayed serious money and only a fool wouldn't factor in also investing some time and money learning how to use what they've bought.

My only hope is that the interactive training goes beyond the basics, that it's interactive is a huge step forward. Just my largely worthless opinion but this could well be the most significant single feature in V8. The real pity is it wasn't in earlier releases, even the inclusion of some killer projects and their media on a DVD might have made a world of difference both on the video and the audio side of the product.

I went to an Apple store about a year ago and there was FCP running on giant monitor. I figured I'd give it a try. That pretty much didn't happen. I really couldn't figure much out on my own. Vegas was much easier for me to learn. Did it on my own looking at manual and going to this forum and a couple of others. I pretty much never asked a question because a search of the forums usually answered my question. I upgraded to Vegas 5 and bought some training DVDs. I recently bought the color correction one from Vasst. I have not watched it yet but will when the weather turns cooler.

if you've seen the Vegas Movie Studio tutorials found in the software, you've already seen the tutorials in Vegas 8 for the most part. They're quite similar, and exactly identical in function.

I wonder if it can also handle training authored by Vegas users?

I just ordered "Absolute Training for Vegas, Vol. 8". Really looking forward to this new version. Kind of takes me back to my first purchase (Vegas 4) back in 2003.

Bob, i was gonna pipe in but DSE beat me to it, i was going to suggest that more than likely, it will be a follow throughof the Studio "show me how" tutes.

These are great, in fact, its how my wife learnt the fundamentals of the vegas workflow, and if she can learn how to cut, anyone can.
This i believe is what will assist vegas get into a market of naysayers as most of these naysayers are motivated by the fact that they do not know the tool. Theyre afraid of it, in turn, they badmouth it.
With this tute system, it will give uneducated people the little push they need in learning how to get the results they want.
Soon enough, they will learn that the Veg workflow is much simpler than every other NLE on the market and THAT is when it will REALLY change the market.

Looking at the release, Sony have showed afe elements, such as the titler, Having a look at it, it seems its easier to use and much more comprehensive than the AE titler. The enveloped KF's for indiviaul letters, splines and curves etc, seems to be one thing which will raise many qyestions. With this ttue sytem, Sony have answered the questions about how it works before theyre even asked, and negative comments (due to ignorance) about the product would virtually be non existant

Thats just one example of its potential positive use.

I'll reserve final judgement until I see what SCS have come up with first hand but so far I'm finding Proanimator which runs either standalone or as a plugin for AE is incredibly intuitive and dead easy to use. Being able to dial in how much AA you want to wait for it to render is very nice as well.
