V8 Multi Cam

I downloaded the trial version last night and played a bit with the multicam. Have not seen any posts on it and was wondering what others thought. I use multicams in most of the things I produce and it is an important part of my workflow..

Seems to be a great product and will make the process a bit easier to watch on the computer. The multicam preview was processing at over 20 fps, the old way of doing it was much slower. I like clicking on the preview to make the cuts

The one thing I did not like and was unable to find a reference to is selection of cuts vs crossfades on the selected video. THis is available both in Excalibur and the VASST product. Anyone find it yet or must each cut have a transition added - this would seem terribly inconvenient.

To create a crossfade using Sony Vegas multicam, hold the CTRL key while selecting an image. You can also apply a crossfade after the edit, using the "\" key on the split/edit point.

Thank you Spot it is appreciated.

I found the "\" option but the other will save lots of time.

Michael,

I think one of the great features of the new multicam is being able to switch in and out of multicam (Ctrl+Shift+D) even while looping an edit. Much faster and intuitive for me now when straight cutting.

I'm having trouble with multicam. I created 4 video tracks to play with multicam and get familiar with it. I choose "enable multicam editing" and I get the border around the preview window but only the top track is visible and it is full screen. I can not see the quad split that I am supposed to and for the life of me can not figure out why.

What am I missing?

The FIRST thing you have to do is select the four clips and choose "Create Multicamera Track". After the multi-camera track has been created you "Enagle Multicamera Editing"

Make sure each track is selected and then from the same menu that you choose "enable multicam editing" choose "create multicam track".
