Thanks for the link.
The ability to control blur is a great feature, with the lack of real motion blur in Vegas (and just about every other application that I can afford) it's a very effective way to create an illusion of MB.
One question springs to mind, how 'thick' are the letters?
I know this isn't a 3D text animation tool however one issue I've had with the 3Dish track motion in Vegas is the way objects vanish when 90deg to the camera. It's technically correct but visually wrong.
The letters can become "thick" if you wish. The keyframing is ridiculous. Seriously. Boris could learn from how the programmer did this piece.
Stroke and Glow can combine to give the letters a unique depth. I do wish the Glow could be offset better.
Combining the gradients with a metallic underlay yields some interesting looks, very Photoshop metallic-like.
Another feature glaringly missing from the title tool is a full background color control. In other words, you can't create a filled screen of color like the "old" title tool, which is still part of Vegas. Currently, you have to stash generated media beneath the title if you want a color card with text.
I *love* how the title tool allows for not just presets, but for saving entire sets of text that are regularly used, and if you like the actions, then the user only needs to change the text out.
Pathing is great, although I miss how TM used to have this same path control. I wish it would return.
We've output several finished DVDs for clients and ourselves using 8, and the titler is easily the fastest/best part of the upgrade, although there are many other sweet tools. BTW, titles are never aliased any longer, even with serifs. There is some kind of smoothing algorithm at play that I haven't been able to get an answer for.
I'm no graphic artists, just a plain white text on black kind of guy and the older titler just sucked at this.
The screen background issue is a bit hohum to me, I wish people would just get used to doing a bit of work. So long as the toolset has a way to do it, you can do it, dropping in another track with the color / gradient you want is hardly a complex task.
Looks pretty good. My only concern is how much it'll fill the bill of what most here have been asking for, it seems very much a "pro" titler, is that what the majority here wanted? Or did they want spinning chrome 3D with 4 different colored lights on a faux timber background?
spinning chrome 3D with 4 different colored lights on a faux timber background
yuck
Another feature I failed to mention is that you can control each character like a child to a parent, then control the word as a separate child to the parent, and then a line as a child to a parent, all separate within each title. The title tool is incredibly complex aside from the speed and quality.
I do use colored title cards for the training stuff, it's very handy, but you're right, we shouldn't mind too much putting a graphic beneath vs having a solid card. It's all about saving time though....

I think the titler rivals anything that I've brought as vector into Photoshop from Illustrator and saved out as a file - scales beautifully. Mind you this new titler is DEEP, takes a bit of playing with to get comfortable but truly is an answer to so many post about titler improvement.
