For the new (comming in may) V9 under advanced editing, they make this comment
A/V synchronization detection and repair

I went and read through their introduction page under " precise editing tools" and "superior audio control" and couldn't find an explanation.

Maybe it's somewhere else and I missed it.

I'm looking for help and/or automation in syncing video footage with audio from separate audio file.
Maybe wishful thinking, but anything new might save some time.

Anyone know what they mean?

This is kind of "common" Vegas Pro feature not V9 bound only. It's such like "ProType Titling technology, multicamera editing tools, 32-bit floating point video processing, customizable window layouts, color-coded snapping, Cinescore plug-in support".

So if you own Vegas Pro 8 you already have A/V synchronization detection and repair functions available.

I think relates to the feature whereby, if you ungroup the audio and video for an event to, say, short the audio a little, and you accidentally shift the the audio or video so that they are now out of sync with each other, the audio portion of the event will show up as pink and a small indicator will appear in the audio event to indicate how far out of sync it is, and whether it is now early (-ve value) or late (+ve value).

Shifting either portion of the event till this value is 0.00 again will mean the event portions are again in sync and and the pink colour will disappear.

A great feature IMHO.

hope the is more helpful than confusing.
