v9 install after trial expired

I purchased Vegas 9 after the trial version expired - uninstalled the trial version - then loaded the download from the link in my email - when I opened it got a message my trial had expired - surprise to me because I had uninstalled the trial - but I went ahead and entered the serial number there - and it opens fine with the default set up - then I went to the help menu (not available in the trial version) and it won't open - same as in the trial - trying to open the content / index - it won't open just like in the trial - this is the 64 bit version. Any help / ideas on how to get this to work? Don't want to reload windows. It won't open when I hit F1 either.

Strange, I uninstalled the trial version of Vegas after it expired and purchased it a few days later, installed (64bit) from the Email link, no problems, help files show up, and no messages alerted me of any issues....you might uninstall vegas again, make sure you have deleted any sony files that still show after the uninstall, then reinstall, if the problem persists contact sony and they should help......

I tried a couple times - all the vegas 9.0 files were deleted - I checked under programs and it was all gone - Sony won't help because this is an XP64 OS - it's not supported. After installing the 32 bit version the help files show up there but not in 64 bit version. When I run the 32 bit version I get low memory errors when rendering to AVCHD 1920x1080 - it's a dual boot computer so I'll try installing the 32 bit version on XP32 proffesional and see if I get the same errors.

Still won't help with help on XP64 though.

I'm not completely sure, but it might be due to Vista 64bit (I'm not sure if it affects XP64bit) no longer supporting previous help file formats.

32 bit XP installation crashed due to low memory when rendering to AVCHD 1920x1080 installed too - interesting - it runs great on XP64 with the 64 bit version.

My bad, I did not realise you were using XP 64Bit, I really think you need to dump it and move to Vista 64Bit, its a great deal more stable and has run perfectly for me since day one....either that or wait for Windows 7....

You may have to remove all the old files from registry and reinstall.

From Sony:
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/kb4289

Go to Start > Run and type REGEDIT. This will take you into the Registry Editor.

**Before making changes to your registry, we advise that you save a backup. If you are unfamiliar with this operation you may want to contact your IT personal or take a look at this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756 - How to back up and restore the registry in Windows XP and Windows Vista**

Locate the following keys and delete them:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sonic Foundry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Media Software
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sonic Foundry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Media Software

Thanks, I may just wait till Windows 7 comes out - don't want to spend anything on Vista when it will be obsolete in a few months. For now I can use the Help files under Vegas 9 32 bit and render using 64 bit.
