V9 Preview files are being saved -- why?

Is there a setting in V9 to turn off the saving of files generated by "Preview in Player". (Ctrl-Shift-M) I don't see this behavior in V8 or previous versions of Vegas. Do I have a setting wrong? The files seem to be saved to the directory of my last render with files names incrementing as "Vegas Pro Preview File 0000"

Look at Preferences > General Tab > “save active prerenders on project close”.

.

Thanks Rosebud but unchecking the prerender saves doesn't help. I think "prerenders" and "preview" are two diff things. You'd want your prerenders saved. In fact, it's a feature I don't use but should use!

Before V9, when I "previewed", it did seem to create a file but it was always the same file name "Vegas Pro Preview 0000" and it was saved to C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\8.0...

.. Now the files are saved to the directory I last rendered to and the file name keep incrementing like "Vegas Pro Preview 0001", "Vegas Pro Preview 0002", "Vegas Pro Preview 0003" -- am I alone in this ? I preview alot so this is a drag.

The preview files have always had a name with an incremented number at the end.
They are rendered to the Prerendered files folder (Project Properties) folder - which you can specify.
So just every now and then empty this temporary folder.

It’s strange but for me, VP9 don’t save the preview files in the same directory of the prerender files.
The preview files are saved in the directory of the first clip I have imported on TimeLine. Even if I delete or rename this folder, VP9 recreate it each time I press Ctrl+Shift+M.
Seems to be a bug.

I use Preview rendering an awful lot as well; still working in version 8.0c and see no evidence of saved renderings, thank heavens. If 9 now saves these I'd be just annoyed.

Bug? .. Then everyone would be seeing this. What I see is that in V8 the "preview" file is always the same file name "Vegas Pro Preview 0000" and is saved to the default directory for "prerenders" as set in the Project Properties. Most of us would be using something like this C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\8.0\ --- I see no build up of files in this directory in V8, just the one file "Vegas Pro Preview 0000" which contains the last preview I did. This file keeps getting over-written.

In V9, the preview files, at least for me, are being saved to the directory to which I lasted rendered something. This changes each time I choose a diff directory to render output. The tail of the file name keeps incrementing or starts over at 0000 if no other preview files exist in that directory. The storage on disc is permanent so it would be something very easy to spot. Maybe very few of us actually use "preview in player" ( Ctrl-Shift-M ) as I do. I've e-mailed Sony tech. I'll report back when they respond.

By the way -- prerender seems to work in V9 the same as V8 and those files are saved permanently to the default directory in File Properties unless you uncheck that preference in the General preferences.
