VA 2.0 & Inconsistent track playback, etc. Your expertise needed!!!

Here's the deal. I bought Vegas Audio 2.0 (full version) about 6 months ago and was using it with my standard sound card to record 2-channel audio. Basically, I would just record a track, go back and record another, and so on. I've found that when I go to playback multiple tracks (~12 or less), Vegas will sometimes pause like it can't keep up with the buffer flow. But, this doesn't happen immediately when I start playback. It seems to work for a little while (maybe 2 minutes into it....these are roughly 7 min songs) and then it hiccups through the rest of the song. Obviously, I can build a preview and play it back that way, but that's time consuming... What can I do to help this?

Another question... In any case, I just purchased the M-Audio Delta 1010 (10in10out package) and installed it on my PC last week. Will my PC be able to handle the load of recording all 8 tracks at once at least with 16bit, 44kHz or possibly 24bit, 96 kHz??? How might this relate to my question stated in the first paragraph?

The system:
Dell XPS-T450 Pentium III 450mHz
512mb PC100 Ram
13gb ATA/66 system drive
Maxtor ATA/100 Interface Card
30gb ATA/100 (vegas projects only)
M-Audio Delta 1010 w/ PCI card
Windows XP Professional (drivers all current)

TIA,

John

Any ideas?

Someone's gotta know the answer to these questions. My back is against the wall and coming up on a deadline. I'm getting good recordings, but my playbacks start jittering after just a couple seconds upon start. I'm trying about 12 tracks and I've put all the fx on the busses to relieve the stress on the individual tracks... Still no luck. How can I fix this? Faster processor (see parent in thread)? I've already increased the buffer to the maximum 2 ms! I willing to spend the money, but I want to make sure it'll fix the problem before doing so!

TIA,
John

Have you tried to raid at a level "0" this helps read the files faster.

what plug-ins are you using? if you pile on the reverbs and other proc intensive fx, you might bog your system down.
