Is there anybody out there successfully recording at 24 bits (44K1) with the above setup ? Mine gives a hugely asymetric waveform and hollow buzz with faint audio in the background only. Yes, latest MOTU 2408/2 drivers, with 'MME Support" enabled. OK at 16 bits.

Maybe my Windows is broken .....

It sounds like you have a DC offset problem. Go to VV3 help and enter "dc" in the search line. It will take you to the glossary, go to DC Offset for a description and an example.
I don't see how to correct for it in VV3. If you have Sound Forge, it can correct existing files as well as calibrate the system before you record.
To correct an existing file, open the file in sound forge, then selct Process>DC Offset. A window will come up which allows you to do an automatic correction or allows you to difine how much offset to be added.

I use MOTU 2408 mkii with Ligic 5.1 and it works very well.
Win 98 SE is my operating system.

I use a 1224 and 2408MkII with W98SE and v1b and v3a...No problems with 24bit. What you describe audibly sounds like a signal feedback loop to me...Is everything squared away with your monitoring and record chain?
