Vagas Video 3 vs Sound Forge 6.0

I currently have Sound Forge 4.5 and was planning on upgrading to SF6.0. If I want to do multitrack editing I know I need Vagas Video 3.0. Do I need both, or would it just be redundant? Besides multitracking capabilities, are they equally good editors. Would it be better to edit stereo files in SF and then move them to VV.

You can probably do most everything you need directly in Vegas. There probably isn't much pressing need to upgrade to SoundForge 6 right away since you already have 4.5.

I just can't get my head around the idea of using Vegas as an editor. Applying effects in realtime (or non-realtime), and volume/pan envelopes, sure. But tight waveform editing, penccil drawing, being able to concentrate on one individual track ? How many times have you inadvertently edited tracks other than the one you intended in Vegas ?

If you want 24 bits, yu need SF5 or 6 .
