Vary Audio Within an Event

I know there has to be an easy way to do this, but I can't seem to make it happen.

I want to vary the audio volume within an event. Specifically, at point "a" in an event I want to reduce the volume and then at point "b" raise it to 100%. I know how to adjust an audio event's volume, I just don't know how to define a point in an event where I could vary it. It seems like what I need is a velocity envelope for audio.

I tried splitting the event at the points where the volume would change, and then fading out the volume for event "A" and then adjusting the volume for event "B'. However, I couln't find a way to fade out the voiume for event "A" only to about -6db rather than all the way to zero.

I know I must be missing something, even though I can't find a solution in any of the books either. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Select the audio track
hit V
fade away to your hearts content

Much easier than splitting is to insert a Volume envelope, found under the Insert menu, or simply type V while that track is selected. A thin blue line will appear accross the middle of the track. Double-click the line to add "nodes". These nodes may be dragged up (for louder) or down (for quieter) as well as adjusted side to side for timing.

Thanks guys. I knew there had a to a very easy way to do this. I just went brain dead and forgot to double click or right click on the track envelope line.
