Has any one been able to use Vasco da Gama 9 that was bundled with Movie Studio Platinum Suite? I've had a go but am totally perplexed. There doesn't seem to be any help function and I've tried to start a new project but can't even get as far as putting a map on the screen.

I was going wrong at the New Project opening screen.
I thought I had to confirm the project settings by clicking Ok. On doing so I was presented with a blank screen and nothing I could do would get me a map. I've since found out that clicking Cancel did present me with the earth globe. Since doing this I get the earth globe whether I click Ok or Cancel. I've also found the Help option, tucked away down at the bottom right of the screen. As you say, not very intuitive.
I'll have a play with it now and then decide if it's worth the effort.
