It occurs to me that, using Vasst's quadcam, color corrections made on the 4 tracks are represented in the PIPs, but not in the master video track, nor in the Render to new track.
Am I doing something wrong? If not, what workflow should I follow?
> I found out that Track FX are not copied with the Quadcam to the mastertrack. Whereas Event FX are.
Yes, think about it… how could you combine Track FX from 4 tracks into one track without affecting all of the events on that track? It simply can’t be done. Since you were color correcting: If you color corrected one track to be cooler and another to be warmer, what would happen when both of those corrections was added to the master track?
The workflow that we recommend is to color correction to the camera media itself. This way any event that uses that cameras media is already corrected. You do this by going to the Media Pool and add the color correcting to the camera media (right-click Media FX…) You could also add the Video FX to the events but odds are that adding it to the media is quicker because any event that uses the media will instantly be color corrected.
A feature that we could add is to copy the Track FX to the events before copying the events to the master track but this would make it more difficult to make changes later because now you would have to adjust each event from that camera individually. It is much better to do it right the first time and color correct the media itself.
If you already added color correction to the tracks, you can save these FX from each track as a package chain and then apply them to the media in one step and remove them from the track. To do this:
(1) Open the Video Track FX and click on the green Plug-In Chain button as if you were going to add another FX.
(2) In the Plug-In Chain window, click on the Save As… button on the right and give it a name like "camera 1 fx".
(3) Remove these FX from the track as they are no longer needed.
(4) Now right-click a camera event on the track and choose Select in Project Media List. This will highlight the media for this event in the media pool.
(4) Find the media that is highlighted in the Project Media window and right-click it and choose Media FX….
(5) In the Plug-In Chooser window select Filter Packages on the left and then apply the "camera 1 fx" package that you just created by selecting it and pressing OK.
Do this for all of the camera tracks and your color correction will be copied to the master track with the camera media.
