VCD question

I was under the impression that one had no options when making a VCD but it seems that you can change from CBR to VBR, change file size etc. Will using any of the options still produce a VCD that will play on any DVD player? If the end film is to be say just 40 minutes long is there any point in increasing image size if you can't increase bit rate?

Flicktease,

"Will using any of the options still produce a VCD that will play on any DVD player?"

Strictly speaking, there are some DVD players that won't play any form of VCD.

The spec for VCD is CBR 1150 kbits/sec. The more you deviate from that, the more you risk that DVD players will not play it as its considered an XVCD at that point.
