Veg Files

I have a number of .veg files created in version 9.0 Is there a way to use them (load them) in version 8.0.

I've tried to open them and get an error message saying file type not supported. I've also tried to copy and paste, but only the video portion will copy, not the audio. Find that particularily strange.

I have a few projects with a LOT of little parts all edited down and merged and would like to save the time to have to recreate this from scratch in version 8.0

related to another earlier post problem, so staying in/going to 9.0 is not an option here. simply need to know if I have to start again from scratch on these veg files or if they can be saved somehow in version 9.0 to make them accessible in 8.0'
thanks

can't open newer veg files in older apps. Always been that way.

You can try saving it as an EDL file (either txt or aaf).
No guarantees on 100% satisfaction but it's better odds than what you currently have.

What if you rendered out to uncompressed .avi, print to tape and capture to VP8?

Usually print to tape requires some sort of compressed format, such as DV, HDV, or AVCHD. Uncompressed is very unlikely to work.

But, there's really no need to print to tape at all. Render to a lossless or nearly lossless format and simply open that file in Vegas 8. You won't have any of the source or edits from the version 9 timeline, but you will have the finished edited version and can work forward from there.
