Vegas 10.0a crashing on render

Oh how I miss network rendering! That used to be my saving grace when I ran into render problems but alas, thats gone and along with it my Plan B.

I've been stuck on trying to get this one project in Vegas 10.0a (Build 387) rendered for days and each and every one crashes, seems to be doing it fairly early in the process as well. For the most part the segment that it seems to crash on is a couple psd images with transparency, not very big either, I think the biggest is 1920x1080, same as the project. Nothing very complicated, some gaussian blur that changes, the image moves some, comes into focus over another layer. Double checked all the images and made sure all were RGB and not CMYK as I've had that bight me in the past. The video that it then goes into is pretty standard fair mxf files. I'm not getting the usual memory crash but a regular one with the following info. In between trying to get this one to render I rendered out a different project that was similar but longer and more complicated without issue. I've tried changing the Dynamic Ram Preview to different settings, 100 MB, 0 MB, tried changing the Maximum Number of Rendering Threads from 4 to 2 to 0 and same result, crash crash crash.

Trying another render at the mo, looks like it made it past the open and onto the vid but the render time doesnt seem right for what it is, telling me about 9 hours. Not that I've I'm a stranger to long render times but the majority of this is simple cuts with some CC, no magic bullet or hectic effects.

Anyway, if it actually finishes I don't care how long it takes but I suspect any moment its going to give me the following again, any other suggestions?

Does it always fail at the same point in the timeline? If yes, then it says there's something wrong with your media.

Double checking but doesn't appear to be, I just canceled the last attempt as it hasnt moved a frame in over two hours, stuck at 1%.

try rendering just that media to avi, mxf... if that doesn't work, try to convert that media to another format in handbrake and reimport into vegas.

i know scs made a lot of the psd abilities with 10 - but to be honest i don't trust them (take your choice with that!).

can you change the psd's to png's?

maybe a pita, but i've done (as i'm sure you have) pretty complicated moves and manipulations with png's that wouldn't work with even jpg's.

Hm, I've had probs in the past with various images but never with psd's. I did change out the jpg for a psd but still having issues. It's really gotten whacky, I'm even getting the same crash now when playing back from the timeline, not even parts with images but just the actual video without effects. Obviously something in this particular project has gone terribly awry. I've somehow managed to get a smidge of the opening rendered to a new track so am just kindda picking away, not so much troubleshooting but square peg round hole just trying to shove it through.

You all are not alone. This seems to have started in Vegas 9.0. I have a support complaint in with the development team but they seem to be denying the entire problem. They won't tell me when it will be fixed and they didn't seem to care including their phone support staff. i am extremly disappointed right now and I dont know what to do. If we can get enough feedback on this forum thread, maybe they will listen. I've tried to uncheck Waveforms and frames. That seems to help but don't count on it. I"M VERY UPSET RIGHT NOW and feeling quite helpless.
