Vegas 10 - Red/Blue "3D" - will you use it?

Just wondering,...the red/blue 1960's style "3D" ???.

Survey - How many of you will use it?

It's been around since before I was born, why have we not demanded it in NLE's before now? Somehow we survived 50 years of editing without it? How or why did that happen?

Can we expect the more current, "polarized" left/right editing technology soon?

I'm not being a downer,...just asking how many people are excited by this "3D" format in Vegas 10.

I know red/blue paper glasses are awesome,...but I'm just curious.

Vegas has been able to do red/blue all along. The new version also outputs other formats, such as those needed for active shutter and polarized if I read it correctly. It also adds easy controls for many 3D perimeters that improve the overall quality and flexibility.

A lot of people will output the red/blue because it is easily watched on YouTube and such, but it will do much more.

Yeah,..It doesn't say much yet, but I'm hoping that "top/bottom, or line-alternate encoding" means that you can render right to a 3D Blu Ray compliant MPEG2 or H.264 interlaced file. And then (hopefully) drop that file into the new DVD Architect and have it compile a 3D Blu Ray without re rendering the material.

Crossing my fingers!

Anybody know if line alternate encoding can work on "any" interlaced file codec? Example;...if my 3D edit was saved to, lets say standard "Lagarith" interlaced file as a master. In theory, when that file is re rendered to Blu Ray, it should maintain the proper effect? Hmm,..there prolly will be some flags or metadata that would be missing or something.

Has anybody here edited and authored any 3D material yet? (not red/blue)

I think you will find that anaglyph is typically used during the editing process for quick previews. Rendering to the other formats for 'true' 3D playback shouldn't be an issue. You can do that in Vegas9 with Cineform already.

The obvious advantage of anaglyph is that it doesn't require any special equipment anywhere in the delivery chain.
