I have a computer that goes to sleep after a set amount of time. Sometimes it will go to sleep when Vegas is open. Sometimes it will not. I have not figured out what triggers the difference between when it will and when it will not. Same is true for Vegas Pro 9 for me, though. These are the 64-bit versions I'm using.

Standby and sleep have always caused problems with windows. YOu should turn that off.
Many applications and drivers (especially PCI audio drivers) will not allow standby/sleep mode.
Besides, the ones that do will, most of the time, have flaky audio after being woken up.
Sleep & standby shouldn't have any issues with windows (I've only seen it have issues with laptops, but it seems to be because of the hardware). I've been using it for years. This computer I haven't shut down for weeks at a time, just standby. I always lave Vegas projects open so I can work on then w/o reloading.
I doubt it's the drivers. I haven't updated any in months & it's only Vegas 10 & OpenGL/DirectX programs that stuff the computer from going in to standby (I've even done it while Vegas is rendering & then turned it back on later & Vegas picks up where it left off).
