Vegas 10, zoom in trimmer woes

I have been doing this for years, now there seems to be an issue. I have a clip loaded into the trimmer and I press arrows down and up and expect to zoom...nothing. This only happens in the trimmer.

Just tested and it works as expected on my system.

Does the mouse wheel zoom?

it is intermittent, I cant put my finger on why it works sometimes. I am trying to see what the similar situations are
