Vegas 10d upgrade discount...grace period?

norgeworks wrote on 5/7/2011, 9:43 AM
So I upgraded to Vegas 10c last week, and now got an offer to upgrade to 10d for 30% off.

I'm not all outraged or flying off the handle--I understand certain promotions run at different times. I actually bought the upgrade for $199, so that was a discount to begin with I suppose.

Any chance I could get the difference back? I ordered it April 28th and haven't even had a chance to install it yet! (I did open it though, so a return is out)

I've had companies (apple) offer me 14 days of price protection in the past, so I know its not unheard of. I haven't run into this with Sony before...

Who would I contact regarding something like this? I'd rather deal over the phone than a web-form entry, and it appears support is closed for the weekend--eating up another 2 days.

Advice? Ideas?

If you have 10c, then 10d is a free update.

I'm aware 10c - 10d is free. However I just paid $199 to go from 7 to 10. Six days later the upgrade price drops another $25.

I hope I don't get a deluge of responses telling me how that's a pittance, and that you can make that back in your first job, or that other companies wouldn't even let you upgrade from that far back--I'm aware of all that thank you very much. =)

As sad as it may seem, $25 actually makes a big difference to my financial situation at the moment, though I'm not about to try to explain that here as it has little bearing...I hope you all understand.

I'm just not sure if Sony/Vegas have ever given that "goodwill gesture" of "don't ever be afraid of taking advantage of a sale, because if the price drops again in 10-14 days we'll refund you the difference".

That's all.

Call Customer Service on Monday and see if they're willing to do anything for you.
IMO, $25 isn't too much of a break to ask for.

Given that logic any price reduction of anything would be immensely complicated to implement.

Ask them and you might be lucky, but I wouldn't expect anything as of right. Just unfortunate timing.

I guess I fail to see how waiting 14 days between promotional pricing initiatives becomes complicated to implement...

I'll give them a shout on Monday. Thanks. =)

An update - called Customer Service and after some time spent on hold was told they could refund me the difference.

Quite happy with the outcome! Thank you all.

That's great news and proves once again that the old adage "if you don't ask, you don't get" is true.

In my experience and from what I have read, SCS customer service is very friendly and accommodating. Too bad SCS tech support does not have that attitude and reputation.
