Vegas 11 Cannot open its own audio files anymore

A new issue has evolved in Vegas 11 for me. I will make a video in a project. I will render it to its 2 files; MP2 and AC3 as it/I always have. I get a few videos made and I like to put them together on a new project. Simple and no issues in the past. Now, I try to load the files and I get 'File is unsupported format...AC3 could not be opened'. I dont know why this has become an issue. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

AC3 as separate audio file import never was supported by Vegas Pro nor Movie Studio. Only way to import was to have AC3 muxed to a certain video file format (though I can't remember which one).

AC3 is a delivery format (except in the case of some cameras). Render to WAV file if you plan on doing future editing with your audio.

I have Vegas 11 Platinum. When you 'make a movie' it automatically renders the audio in AC3 but wont allow you to use that audio when you want to reintroduce the project onto a new timeline as a finished video. I must 'render as' a WAV and do that separate and then use that file when I bring back the project into a new timeline. Very strange.

Not really that strange. "Make a movie" should be the final step in a project, not an intermediate.

Yes, that's "expected behaviour".
