Vegas 11 Pro Render Crash

Ready to pull my hair. Sony Vegas Pro 11 just stops, doesn't crash but halts rendering my video, no error message, no warning nada, just stops.

I'd list out all my system details but I have plenty of juice, cpu, ram and space on both OS and g-raids.

Vegas Pro used to be rock solid, wtf has happened to this version, I have a real deadline on a project and now I have to mess around with all kinds of nonsense just to get output from my project.

Really disappointed, shouldn't have done anything serious on this version and btw yes I have downloaded the latest version from the Sony site.

Looking forward to Version 12 where all th bugs are out and you can rely on it working like it's supposed to.

Cheers!

I'm having the same problem. In fact I keep getting the blue screen of death or lockup as the OP has experienced. Running Windows 7 (64 bit), 16GB RAM, 2 TB HD, Intel I7 processor, GeForce GTX560. This is really frustrating!

What format and resolution are the two of you trying to render? Have you tried turning off GPU processing in Preferences?

@ videonob? What specs for Video Card? I see from earlier posts you've made that you "were" on VP11 Build 511? The latest Build is build 683. With all the issues SCS has run into, getting VP11 to play nicely with GPU and so on, maybe you should consider getting their latest/recent build of VP11.

@rcarlton? I can't work out your Video card manufacturer from your specs? I'm reading:MSI N9600GT 512M OC? Here's a SCS table for checking your card for acceleration. What card do you have?

Grazie

Hello Grazie,

The video cards are: Dual Nvidia GeForce 295 on Alienware, Nvidia Quadro 3000M on Dell Precision M6600 Laptop and Nvidia Quadro 4000 on Dell Precision T7500.

All 3 systems have the same VP11 version 683.

I really hate to have to go through this detective work to please the application. Why can't it report an error and pop a message box or something rather than just stopping until I end it.

It reminds me of the software I used to write in college and didn't write basic appropriate error handling code.

By the way, I didn't even mention the fact that during edit sometimes it also just hangs until I kill the process and often after I save an exit I get a VP11 message saying that blah blah it didn't close properly would I like to send in the error etc, but those I can handle as just nuisances .

I'll ask again, have you tried turning off GPU processing in Vegas Preferences?

I have the project on an external hard drive so I can use either my desktop or laptop to run. Laptop runs it just fine in AVCHD 1920x1080-60i or blu-ray 1980x1080-60i. Same project locks up or BSOD on the desktop. The difference: desktop has a video card capable of running GPU with Vegas Pro. BSOD may be from incompatibilities with the video cards drivers (latest drivers as of May of this year). Solution as mentioned above: turn off GPU processing on desktop computer. Works well now.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. I changed the GPU accel from the video card to Off. We'll see...

The older workstation with the dual Nvidia GeForce 295 didn't list it as an option Off was the only value. I guess older cards can't process.

Thanks for your help.
