They always say "those who know can't tell".

So until it is pretty much final, you probably won't hear anything official about it. That being said, keep in mind that Vegas Studio 12 has been out for a little while already, and Vegas Pro has been released many years in the fall, around Sept/Oct.

So my absolute guess is that it'll be out before the end of the year, maybe October.

Are thereany features from Vegas Movie Studio 12 that you'd like to see make it to Vegas Pro 12?

Doesn't sound like they added much to Studio 12, so just going off the Product Comparison & TechSpecs I'd like to see:
* .mp4 import
* iZotope VocalRemover
* Color-coded visual indicator that event has been added to timeline
* Slideshow Creator
* Soundtracks Included/Sony Sound Series: Production Music tracks
* FASST Apps

Normally for the lower end versions they bring in features from the previous Vegas version and add some step-by-step features & presets to do things, like burn a DVD, make a menu, etc.

One real neat thing I wish they would add is a message warning that "You have one or more events squeezed to one frame width on the timeline. There is a blinking arrow showing the location of these events. Do you wish to remove these events?"

I believe that VASST's Ultimate S Pro can do this as part of its Project Audit capability. Of course that is a plug-in and you must pay $$$.

That looks great. Wonder why Vegas doesn't have that as standard?

Just speculation on my behalf, but maybe there is a friendly agreement for SCS not to clobber their 3rd party partners by incorporting certain features offered by them.

VASST, NewBlue, Mercalli, and others are listed on the Partner page of this site (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/partners). If SCS incorporated 3rd party features, that would limit the their revenue opportunities. Then said parters might get ticked-off and leave the sandbox : o

As I said, just speculation.

This most probably is true. BTW, it seems like SCS already included too much of Mercalli stabilization in version 10 of Vegas Pro, and now they have to back out a little :)

What I am hoping is that we'll get to see the FASSTAPPS from VASST (I'm a bit partial because A, I do a lot of work for VASST, and B, I'm the guy who worked on the videos and made the intro/outro bumper), come to the Vegas Pro world, not just the Vegas Movie Studio one. Because that would allow for some very cost effective tools for whatever is needed. Kind of like Ultimate S Pro features à la carte. I've got USPro and use almost every tab, and love it, but it's a little intimidating to the uninitiated I think.

Are these the FasstApps?

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/partners/video

I saw these on the Partner page and was jazzed. Now I realize that they are available only for Movie Studio. Some of these are embodied in Ultimate S Pro and Scattershot, which I have. Maybe that is why they are not available individually to Vegas Pro users?

For my needs, Ultimate S Pro is a bit overkill. The FastApps would "fasst" and easy, and would possibly represent a bigger revenue stream for VASST if users could pick and choose at only $9.95 each.

We hear you LOUD and CLEAR. Expect something good to be announced from VASST when Vegas Pro 12.0 ships. (... I think you'll be jazzed again) ;-)
