If you have not already done so try the 296.10 driver. Do a clean install of the driver. The later ones cause problems with Vegas 12 and may cause some problems with Vegas 11.

The driver 296.10 is faster and more reliable with Vegas 11 than the latest driver is on my system.

Thanks, trying it now. Fingers crossed :)

That was a no go on my system. Any other ideas?

Vegas will only use one of those GTX590's. So having two of them will not help at all. Assuming you have two 590's.

If you are referring to the dual GTX 500 GPU's of a single 590 then Vegas will also only access one of those.

Not a very compatible card for Vegas.

I hope this helps.

Similar issue for me. I have had almost zero crashes on Vegas 11 and 12. However, I recently purchased Scattershot 3D by VASST, and unfortunately Vegas 12 immediately crashed, over and over and over, the grey screen.

I took the advice, turned off GPU acceleration, problem seems solved, so far no crashes. I have the Nvida Quadro 4000.

I am not sure if anything has slowed down since GPU acceleration has been turned off, but the software seems stable again.

Unfortunately the best thing I recommend you try is turning off quad sli for using Vegas. Hopefully this will sort out your stability issues.

When I turn on GPU acceleration, the render freezes before completing. I'm using an Nvidia GTX580 card and have tried drivers 296.10 and 306.23. Renders will freeze with either driver.
In VP11, GPU accleration worked fine with driver 296.10.
With VP12 and GPU acceleration turned off, the renders complete with out any problems.
I would appreciate anyones suggestion on what might correct this problem.

Same problem here with Nvidia GTX470 card... Vegas Pro 11 with GPU worked fine and I enjoyed the performance improvement, overall I had few issues. With Vegas Pro 12 I get constant freezes and crashes. And preview performance is worse with GPU on compared to GPU off... that is when it isn't crashing.

I'm having an odd issue with vegas 12. When gpu is off & multicam editing, the preview is much faster than with gpu on. Vegas 11 it is the opposite. When gpu is on & multicam editing, the preview is somewhat faster than with it off.

Since multicam editing is important to me, gpu will stay off for now. Hope there may be a fix in the future, but since it is much faster with gpu off I am in a better position with Vegas 12.

I found a solutin for my GPU problem.
It was one mp4 file out of many on the timeline that caused VP12 to freeze.
I ran the mp4 file through format factory and created a new mp4 file. It works fine now with GPU on.

I got in touch with the support team, and this is the answer they gave me.

"Thank you for contacting Sony Creative Software. We are seeing a number of Vegas Pro 12 crashes in NVIDIA's CUDA driver and we are working with NVIDIA to resolve the issue. In the meantime, we recommend turning off GPU acceleration of video processing (in the Video tab of Options > Preferences) if you are experiencing this crash."

So, they know that this is a huge problem, and they are working to fix it.

@TSIG
Thanks for the information.
I'm glad to know SCS is aware of the problem and is working to correct the problem.
