Version 11 has only been out since last October. Why would you expect a version 12 release in under a year?

Nope but Video Studio was released in early June 2011. We are now more than half way through July and there is still no inkling that a new version will be coming out soon. My bet is that Vegas Pro 12 will not be out until the end of this year or early next year.

Plenty of time left to study the tea leaves or the chook's entrails.

Well, I'm not surprised. I don't think Sony's had as much negative feedback on Vegas in years since v.10-11. Hopefully they're realizing that just releasing the next version may be corporate trendy keeping-up-with-the-Jones but they need to get it right first - or get another batch of bad feedback on buggy software -- which also causes customer loyalty to tank. A few more months may very well be needed - and welcomed.

That said, I will skip v12.

As long as Vegas is in the "bloatation" mode they might as well add warnings like "Do not render this event as you do not have enough memory for completion" or "Vegas has detected numerous black frames in your event, do you wish to remove them?" or "You have left an event far out of place which will stretch your render to double it's size, do you wish to remove this event?" or "You have an event squeezed down to one frame, do you wish to remove this event?" or "Vegas has detected that you do not have the latest drivers for the windows .nets, do you wish to update to the latest drivers?" or "Vegas has detected that your properties do not match your timeline properties, do you wish to change the properties or ignore?" etc, etc. Maybe this one, "Vegas has detected that you are a terrible editor, do you wish to correct all your mistakes?"

I had a good chuckle over this.
It reminded me of something from another Sony product, the PMW 350 camera. Like a few cameras these days if you seriously overexpose a warning appears in the viewfinder. With the 350 if you ignore that warning for a while a message something like "Dumb cameraman's shot saved by Hypergamma" pops up.
I'd love to hack the 350's firmware to add a "Donate" icon to that message :)

I would love to have a workable version of V11 that I could actually use before starting all this madness over again with V12.

Agreed. From a customer's viewpoint, there's no point in buying Vegas12 just to fix Vegas11's problems, especially if a new version is 100% unlikely to solve such things.

On the other hand if Vegas revved to a completely new and rebuilt version, like "Tijuana 1.0" (Las Vegas Wedding -> Mexican Divorce) then maybe it'd be a little more attractive as a bug fix.

I would pay an upgrade fee to have an 11 with all the issues fixed even without new features but that should happen for free shouldn't it.
