vegas 12 render fails?

I've been working with the trial of vegas movie studio 12 before I actually buy the upgrade to see what its like. It was all going great, so just for kicks, I decided to make a DVD of one of my old projects with 2 sections: full movie and bloopers. I created the menu animations for each half and then tried to render them down to put in DVD architect. The bloopers section which is around a minute long goes just fine, but the main film which is only just over 5 minutes long refuses to render. With whatever format I try, it gets to 88% and then doesn't go any further. No error message or anything. It just freezes. I've been trying literally all day to fix it. I'm not even going at full HD, just 720.Please help me.

There could be a couple of things going on, and it's hard to say what without knowing more detailed information about your computer. But try this.

Do a Save As and save your project inside a new, empty folder on your hard drive. This will give your project a new area to write its temp and render files, where they won't get mixed up with the old, possibly corrupt render files.

I also recommend running Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragment on your computer regularly. Stray and temp files floating aroundon your hard drive can keep your programs from being able to grab contiguous blocks of space for larger render projects.

Besides checking disk space, see what's on the timeline at exactly the point the render freezes. Could be a bad format, etc. Try rendering without that event on the timeline, see if it works.
