Vegas 12 slow to load downsized project

Had a zillion clips in a project and decided to divide it into two projects.

Copied the .veg file to project01a.veg and renamed the original project01b.veg

Now both files still have all clips so I opened 01a and deleted half the stuff from the timeline and project and saved it.

Then I did the same thing for 01b but deleting the first half of stuff from the timeline and the project.

But when I relaunch the each project Vegas takes a long time to get everything loaded so I'm wondering if it still keeping some kind of record of the deleted stuff? Is there a "clean up" option that sort of flushes the system or whatever?

Thanks.

You should clean the project media too. Unused clips, those removed from the timeline, remain in the project media list and will be loaded every time you open the project.

Menu->Tools->Clean Project Media
